Organizations and Functions |
| There are seven organizations under the Ministry
of National Planning and Economic Development. They are:- |

- Central Statistical Organization
|
| |
- Foreign Economic Relations Department |
| |
- Project Appraisal and Progress Reporting Department |
| |
- Planning Department |
| |
- Central Equipment Statistics and Inspection Department |
| |
- Directorate of Investment and Company Administration |
| |
- National Archives Department |
| Main functions
of the organizations under the Ministry are as follows. |
| (a) Central
Statistical Organization |
| |
- to collect and process economic and social statistics |
| |
- to conduct surveys and to process, analyze and
disseminate data |
| |
- to render assistance to government agencies
in statistical technology and in computerization programs |
| |
- to give training to the technicians in order
to gain appropriate knowledge and skills relevant to the computerization
programs |
| (b) Foreign
Economic Relations Department |
| |
- to co-ordinate with the international, bilateral and multilateral
organizations for mobilization of external financial resources
and development assistance in the form of loans, aids, technical
assistance and training programmes.

| (c) Project
Appraisal and Progress Reporting Department. |
| |
- To evaluate new and extention projects and to monitor
the progress during their implementation
|
| |
- To monitor and review regularly on the operation of the
State Economic Enterprises |
| |
- To evaluate the organizational structure of government establishments. |
| |
- To coordinate with State Economic Enterprises for privatization. |
| |
- To co-ordinate with State Economic Enterprises for implementing
privatization programmes.

| (d) Planning
Department |
| |
- to co-ordinate and formulate economic Plans |
| |
- to analyze the implementations of the economic plans |
| |
- to perform regular review on the financial, economic and
social condition of the country and submit appropriate suggestions |
| (e) Central
Equipment Statistics and Inspection Department |
| |
- to collect the statistical data of machinery and equipment
of the state sector.
|
| |
- to co-ordinate in drawing the state budget in equipment
sector by scrutinizing the machinery and equipment submitted
by the government organizations, to help accomplish national
economic plans. |
| |
- to inspect the maintenance and repair for proper utilization
of state-owned machinery including the vehicles, locomotives,
Vessels etc,
according to the direction of Equipment Control
Committee (E.C.C) and Organization of the state power. |
| (f) Directorate
of Investment and Company Administration |
| |
- to register the incorporation and administration
of companies, in accordance with the provisions of the Myanmar
Companies Act, 1914 |
| |
- to analyse the investment proposals under the
Foreign Investment Law and Myanmar Citizens Investment Law and
put up to the authorities concerned for approval |
| |
- to monitor the permitted investment projects
under the Foreign Investment Law and Myanmar Citizens Investment
Law. |
| |
- to compile and prepare FDI Statistics |
| (g) National
Archives Department |
| |
- to preserve and conserve the national records and archives
of the country in its entirety |
| |
- to work for promotion and advancement of records management
and archives administration contributing to the country and
the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Development. |
