The National Archives Department,
Myanmar, had in its custody invaluable collection of archives
pertaining to the British Colonial Period (1886-1948) which
are now given access to researchers and scholars. Those who
want to make use of the archives could do in accordance with
the following procedure: |
| (a) |
Scholars from abroad should write, to use the
documents of the National Archives Department, to the Ministry
of the National Planning and Economic Development, through the
Myanmar Embassy in their respective countries.

| (b) |
It is advisable that an application
describing the name, occupation, home address, address, educational
qualification subject or paper and period which he intend to
do research, former subject, paper or dissertation done(if any),
with signature and designation of the scholars or researcher,
should also be attached to the above letter. A recommendation
(in a separate paper or endorsed on the application ) from the
authority concerned (such as Professor of the Department , University)
should also be endorsed.

| (c) |
A copy should be sent to the National Archives
Department, Myanmar for information. After permission being
granted the Researcher could visit the National Archives Department
and make necessary arrangement, as follows:

| (i) |
Fill up the Request for records Archives
Form. (attached form 2) |
| (ii) |
Fill up the Request form to use the Research Room.
(attached form3) |
| (iii) |
Pay the Registration fee US$ 30 (valid for one
year) |
| (iv) |
Use the Research Room in accordance with the terms
laid down by the Department |
| (v) |
Microfilm , Microfiche and CD's will be provided. |
| (vi) |
Reading Room open on week-days from (10 A.M to
4 P.M) |
| (vii) |
Break hour for lunch (12 - 1 )PM. |
| (viii) |
Reading Room will be closed on Saturday, Sunday
and Gazetted Holidays. |
