Functions of the Planning Department
to formulate short-term, long-term and annual development plans for national level, sectoral level, ministerial level and regional level by coordinating and co- operating with the respective ministries and regional authorities.
to compile, analyse and review the plan performance on monthly and quarterly basis to take timely corrective measures for successful implementation of the plan.
to measure the wealth of the Nation, compute and estimate the progress of the economy, and review the existing situation in order to lay down socio-economic policy by the higher authorities.
to compile data on exports and imports of goods and services and submit to the higher authorities on weekly, monthly and annual basis to lay down Foreign Trade policy.
to co-ordinate with respective ministries to formulate Balance of Payment (B.O.P) and to analyse B.O.P position together with current account situation to lay down Foreign Exchange policy.
to analyse the budget position of the Nation regularly, especially for yearly investment allocation.
to compile prices of commodities, and submit to the higher authorities weekly in order to take measures for stabilization of the prices and to curb the inflation rate.
to compile and analyse the financial, economic and social conditions of the country and Economic Development,
to give technical assistance to the organizations concerned for plan implementation by the Planning Offices at various levels
