The Republic of the Union of Myanmar has
32.74 million of working age population. Fairly well trained
manpower and skilled labour are available. |

The labour cost in the Republic of
the Union of Myanmar is quite low compared to other neighbouring
countries. In the private sector it is usually fixed on mutual
agreement between the employer and employee. |

Social Security Benefit |

Private enterprises employing at least
5 persons are covered by the Social Security Act 1954. The contribution
to the scheme is approximately 4 percent of the insured wage
and the ratio of contribution is employer 2.5: employee 1.5.
The workers insured under the Act are
entitled to free medical care, cash benefit for sickman, maternity
and disability, funeral grants and survivors pension.
